Cot Darkening Cover

The Cot Darkening Cover by Little Weasel helps babies and toddlers sleep better and longer by creating a darker, more consistent sleep space. Light sensitive little ones sleep better in their own little cocoon, meaning the entire family gets better rest, whether you're at home or on the road. 

We know how important it is to darken the sleep environment for better nap and nighttime sleep, especially if your child is sensitive to light. Darkness aids young ones sleep because it signals that it's sleeptime, reduces stimulation, and supports production of the sleep hormone melatonin. Many sleep experts recommend a dark environment to help babies fall asleep, connect sleep cycles for longer naps, and prevent break-of-dawn morning wakeups.

Our cover is designed to fit a standard camp cot or a crib of a similar size. When the top and side panels are closed, the cover blocks approximately 80% of light to create a darker sleeping space. 

Our cover is an excellent travel aid. As parents know, many babies and toddlers struggle to sleep whilst traveling because they are in an unfamiliar location, or simply because the available curtains don't make the room dark enough. Our cover helps solve these problems by keeping the sleep space dark and consistent. For travel, we recommend using the cover for several days before your trip to acclimatize your child. 

The cover can be used as an alternative or complement to dark curtains. For very light sensitive babies, we recommend using our cover in conjunction with dark or blackout curtains or blinds (which on their own often do make the room dark enough for naps and early mornings) to create an extra-dark sleep environment.

Will this cover work for my baby? We understand that even tiny little babies have opinions, preferences and unique sleep styles. Sometimes the littlest people are the fussiest of all. So our cover is designed to be adjusted based on the level of light in the room, ventilation and visibility preferences, and your baby's own sleep needs. The top can be zipped open or closed. Side "window" panels that can be closed, left half open, or fully rolled up. 

Will this cover fit my cot? Our cover is designed for cots, pack n plays, and play yards that take a standard camp cot mattress with dimensions of 94 cm x 66 cm. The product has some stretch to accommodate slight differences in exterior cot dimensions and will fit most major brands including Bambino, Chelino, Chicco, Graco, Joie, Snuggletime, and many more.  However, the cover will not fit and should not be used with cot attachments such as a connected mobile, change table, hood, or utility and storage tray. These attachments can typically be removed in order to use the cover. Please consult your cot instruction manual. Do not use to cover a bassinet, 3-sided side sleeper, mini cot, large / extra large cot, or any cot for which the cover does not fit tightly and appropriately.

How dark will it make the sleep space? The cover blocks approximately 80% of light, creating a dark space. However, please note that the cover does not create a total blackout because it is made with breathable fabric. For babies who need an even darker environment, we recommend using the cover in addition to dark curtains (which on their own are often not dark enough for the most light sensitive babies).

How do I use the cover? The cover fits snugly over a camp cot and can be secured in place with elastic loops. Ensure that: (1) the cover is pulled taught over the cot; (2) the cover aligns with the cot in a manner that provides sufficient ventilation to the baby; and (3) the baby is not in a position to pull the cover down, kick the cover, or in any way become entangled in the fabric.
